A/B Testing Links
A/B testing lets one short link send visitors to different destinations, so you can see which landing page, offer or store gets the most clicks. This feature is available on Pro and Max plans.
Setting Up a Test
- Create or edit a short link and enter its destination URL. This is variant A.
- Click A/B Test.
- Add up to four more destinations (B to E).
- Set the share of traffic each destination gets. The percentages must add up to 100% — use Split evenly for an equal split.
- Click Save, then save the link.
How Visitors Are Assigned
- Each new visitor is sent to one destination at random, following your percentages.
- A returning visitor keeps getting the same destination for 30 days, so results aren't skewed by people bouncing between versions.
- Link previews on social media (the title, description and image) always use variant A.
- Deep links and password protection work with A/B tests: each visitor's destination opens in its app, or after the password is entered.
Reading the Results and Picking a Winner
Open the link in your dashboard and click A/B Test to see the clicks and share of traffic for each destination.
When you're ready, click Declare winner next to the best destination. From then on every visitor goes to that destination, and the link's destination URL is updated to it. The results stay visible.
To run a new test, change the destinations or percentages and save. To stop testing without picking a winner, click Turn off.
